Curriculum

It is a rigorous management program with a combined courses of foundation, core and electives at the under-graduate (UG) level and advanced management courses at the postgraduate (PG) level. Upon completing the academic rigor of 5 years, the student will be awarded a Master of Business Administration (MBA) of IIM Jammu. The structure and lengths of degree programs have multiple exit options within the first three years. If any student intends to exit after successful completion of the program requirement at the end of the 1st year; a certificate will be awarded; at the end of 2nd year, an advanced certificate will be awarded; and at the end of the three years, she/he will be awarded a degree of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). In the first part of the IPM program structure, various courses such as foundation courses, core courses, core internship (Social and Corporate internship) and elective courses will be offered to impart the business acumen. Students will be undergoing 6-8 weeks of internships with social projects/initiatives and corporates respectively at the end of the 1st and second academic year. Additionally, students will undertake a global immersion/international exchange program.

According to NEP 2020, effective learning requires a comprehensive approach that involves an appropriate curriculum, engaging pedagogy, continuous formative assessment, and adequate student support. The first three years course curriculum of the Five-Year Integrated Program in Management (IPM) will be based on the holistic and multidisciplinary curriculum as specified in the New Education Policy of 2020. The IPM will help develop well-rounded individuals that possess critical 21st century capacities, including increased creativity and innovation, critical thinking and higher-order thinking capacities, problem-solving abilities, teamwork, communication skills, more in-depth learning and mastery of curricula across fields, increases in social and moral awareness, besides general engagement and enjoyment of learning. IPM structure is based on a Holistic and Multidisciplinary Curriculum and course structure.

Foundation Course:

All courses that should be studied compulsively as per the program’s multidisciplinary requirement are termed foundation courses.

Core Courses:

All courses that should be studied compulsively as a core requirement of the program are termed core courses. The core courses will provide a foundation for the appreciation and a more in-depth understanding of the business functions.

Internship Courses:

Each student must complete the following internship requirements:

  • Social Internship: He/she must complete an internship of prescribed duration in any social sector organization (Non-Government Organizations [NGOs]/ Corporate Social Responsibility [CSR]) of his/ her choice, subject to approval by the Chairperson (Placements). This internship would be completed at the end of 1st year.
  • Corporate Internship: He/ she must complete a business internship of prescribed duration with a business enterprise of their choice, subject to approval by the Chairperson (Placements). This internship would be completed at the end of 2nd year.

Elective Courses:

Generally, a course which can be chosen from a pool of courses and which may be very specific or specialized or advanced or supportive to the discipline/ subject of study or which provides an extended scope or which enables exposure to some other discipline/ subject/ domain or nurtures the candidate’s proficiency/skill is called an Elective Course.

  • Business Function Elective (BFE) Courses: Elective courses offered in any business functional areas are referred to as Business Function Elective Courses. The Institute may also offer BFE courses drawn from multiple business functions (inter-disciplinary). The BFE courses will aim to concentrate on business functions, viz., finance, accounting, marketing, operations, human resource management, and information technology.
  • Open Elective (GE) Courses: An elective course chosen generally from an unrelated discipline/ subject (viz., mathematics, arts & humanities, and science & technology) to seek exposure is called Open Elective. Such electives broaden the horizon of students and sensitize students to the facets beyond the business world.

Global Immersion/ International Exchange Programme (IEP):

The global immersion program aims to provide an immersive experience to the culture and historical dimension that shape business practice, while the international exchange program will provide global exposure to the student to study in the international partner institutions subject to the course norms.

Exit Options:

Students would be provided an exit option with a BBA degree/ certificate subject to completing the required norms. This program has been strategically designed to allow the students to exit from the program after completing each year up to the third year as per the New Education Policy 2020.

Eligibility to continue into the MBA program:

A minimum CGPA of 6.00 would be required to continue into the MBA program. The fourth and fifth years will be merged with the flagship MBA program of the Institute and students will be required to meet the academic rigor of the MBA program.

IIM JAMMU

The Five Year Integrated Program in Management (IPM) aims to prepare young professionals full of managerial and decision-making capabilities using an ultra-modern academic pedagogy of global standards based on a Holistic and Multidisciplinary Curriculum. The Five Year Full-time Residential Integrated Program is strategically designed with a blend of science, social science, and management courses. The program’s ultimate aim is to integrate management education with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). This program aims to prepare young professionals to start their career at any point in time by exiting from the program. According to NEP 2020, a holistic and multidisciplinary curriculum would aim to develop all capacities of human beings- intellectual, aesthetic, social, physical, emotional, and moral in an integrated manner.

The program objectives are as follows:

  • To enable students to understand India and the globe’s socio-economic, technological, ecological, and political environment.
  • To impart knowledge & skills to students for their easy absorption at the entry-level managerial roles in the varied management functions across different industries.
  • To equip students with required conceptual and interpersonal skills for managerial decision making in structured/unstructured environments.
  • To build their leadership & team skills to enhance their performance in a cross-cultural environment.
  • To develop socially responsible and ethical business leaders who can perform without compromising integrity, honesty, and fairness.

IPM Admission Policy 2022

This document summarizes the approach of IIM Jammu to prepare the admission list for its IPM Batch 2022. The batch size is likely to be around 60. IIM Jammu reserves the right to modify any part of this document including the various criteria and cut offs mentioned at any time till the actual admission process for the batch is completed.

Selection Process

The selection process of IIM Jammu consists of:

  • Joint Integrated Programme in Management Admission Test (JIPMAT) to be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA).
  • Class 10th and 12th marks
  • Preparation of Merit list will be based on JIPMAT Score, academic profile and gender diversity.

Eligibility

  • Candidate should have passed Standard XII/HSC or equivalent examination in 2020,2021 or appearing in 2022. The candidate must have passed Standard X/ SSC or equivalent examination in the year 2018 or later
  • Qualifying Examination-Candidate should have a Minimum 60% in standard X/ SSC and standard XII/ HSC or equivalent examinations (55 % for the candidates from SC/ST/ PwD category). Candidates who are likely to complete standard XII/ HSC or equivalent by the end of July 31st, 2022 can also apply.
  • Applicants pursuing their XII standard from international schools affiliated to foreign boards like IGCSE (International General Certificate for Secondary Education) and IB (International Baccalaureate) can also apply.

Criteria for Preparing the Merit List

  • The criteria for preparing the merit list will be based on the composite score comprising the weightage of JIPMAT score, academic profile of class 10th and 12th, and gender diversity as follows:

Offer Acceptance Fee and Withdrawal

After the declaration of the merit list, candidates will be asked to register for the expression of the interest. The candidates who will successfully register in the expression of interest will receive the admission offer as per the vacant seat and his/her order in the merit list. A candidate receiving admission offer from IIM Jammu and accepting the offer within the stipulated date needs to send along with Offer Acceptance, an Offer Acceptance Amount of Rs.50,000/-. If a candidate registers for the program, his/her Offer Acceptance Amount will be adjusted against Term I Fee. If a candidate subsequently wishes to withdraw the offer within the withdrawal date specified by the Institute, Offer Acceptance Amount will be refunded after deducting Rs. 1,000/- as processing charges. If a candidate applies for withdrawal after the date specified by the Institute, no refund will be admissible. In the event of withdrawal from the Program after registration, no refund of Offer Acceptance Amount & Semester Fee will be made.

IPM Course Structure

The duration of the IPM Program is five years, where the first three years of the IPM program would be based on the semester system and the last two years would be based on the trimester system (as per the prevailing MBA course structure). At the end of 1st year, students will undertake Boot Camp at Ladakh. In the 2nd Year, students will complete a Social and Corporate internship. During the 3rd year, the students will enroll in an international exchange program with one of the partner institutions based on merit and course norms. Additionally, in the 3rd Year of the program, students will have the option to select a sector-specific specialization. The course structure after the sixth semester will be merged with the flagship MBA program of the Institute and students will be required to meet the academic rigor of the MBA program. Social Internship:

At the end of 1st year, students will undertake Boot Camp at Ladakh. The boot camp program aims to provide an immersive experience to the culture and historical dimension.

International Exchange Programme (IEP):

During the 3rd year, the students will enroll in an international exchange program with one of the partner institutions based on merit and course norms. The international exchange program will provide global exposure to the student to study in the international partner institutions subject to the course norms.

IPM Fee Structure

The course fee for resident Indians for the first three years of the IPM would be Rs. 4,85,000/- (Rupees four lakh and eighty-five thousand) per annum. The course fee for the fourth and fifth years would be as per the prevailing fees of MBAs. The course fee includes access to lectures, internet facilities, library, tuition fee and hostel charges.

The candidate must deposit one-time refundable caution money of Rs. 20,000/- along with the Semester-I fee. In addition to the above, mess charges will be informed at the start of the academic year. Accommodation would be arranged on a sharing basis for the first three years of IPM. Single room accommodation would be provided for the fourth and fifth years of the Programme, if available.

Any dispute concerning Admissions for the IPM Batch 2022-27 would be subject to jurisdiction of the competent courts within the territorial jurisdiction of city of Jammu Only.
